Last years Freestyle World Cup event in Costa Teguise lured wind surfers from around the globe, the mens winner was from Venezuela and the womens from Aruba in the Windward Islands. In 2009 Las Cucharas beach will again be the stage from June 29 to July 4, as they compete for the 45,000 euros prize money.

Aim high and see if you can master the side shore winds at Las Cucharas, maybe you can add some edge with lessons at the many Costa Teguise schools. on the north west coast, La Santa also gives beginners a welcome push. The bug soon bites and you will find yourself at Jameos de Aqua, one of the tougher areas to wind surf.
