The Spanish National Junior Basketball Championship reaches its final phase on the idyllic islands of Lanzarote, where the country´s top 32 teams will battle for the national trophy. Representing the 17 autonomous territories as well as the cities of Ceuta y Melilla, Spain´s best 13 and 14 year olds will dispute the title at the Municipal Sports Centre of Teguise as well as Arrecife´s Sports Centre.

In July 2012, Lanzarote will see the crowning of the Spanish Kiteboarding Champion during this national event to be held at Playa de las Cucharas, Costa Teguise. This contest includes Kids, Junior, Senior and Master categories for both men and women, divided into two modalities, Wave and Freestyle.

RCNA Triathlon is one of the oldest ones in Spain. It’s also the championship of the Canaries and of the Canarian Government. Here participate the best athletes from the Archipelago and the Iberic Peninsula. Foreign sportmen and women also take this opportunity to compete and enjoy a closed circuit along the island’s capital coastal.
24 and 25 of August, Arrecife
San Ginés International Race is the oldest long distance race in Spain and it’s known for the difficulty of its navigation because part of the tour is done at night and the winds blow with the greatest force at this time of year. The participants sail the 111 miles separating the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Arrecife, in Lanzarote.
Respecting the philosophy of catching and letting free, this competition -dean in the archipelago- is known for strengthen ties between participants and its spirit of healthy competition. Back in land, a fun environment is always wellcoming fishermen who share their anecdotes of the day and celebrate the captures and let-free. The trophies are spectacular pieces made of bronze and ceramic representing marlins, tunas, gilthead breams and other fish. They are highly appreciated by the winners. The gala dinner and the farewell party are one of the most awaited events of the island.
Participants cross stretch of water called the río (river). A distance of 2.600 meters, that separates the beach of El Risco, in Famara (Lanzarote), and Caleta de Sebo, the capital of the neighboring island of La Graciosa.
